X Games

The article is explaining the advancement and rise in popularity of the x games. The rising payment of players increased coverage for fans on recreational sports such as skateboarding, snowboarding, and BMX. People like Shaun white are earning more and more money due to increased viewing. There are also company endorsements and sponsorships that bring benefits to the athlete, and provide a walking talking advertisement for these companies that are on the rise yet downfall. The expansion of X games to new countries and new athletes. The amount of money coming into the program is on the rise as well bigger companies bigger pay bigger fan base it’s getting bigger. With ESPN paving the way for these sports it will probably continue to make the headway it’s making now. Being an entertainment in sports giant it will be sure to advertise and gain popularity in all aspects of sports. These sports are gaining popularity among all audiences and this will increase the business of companies that make these products. To me it looks like all, there doing is working out a new market to earn money from audiences that they had no profits coming from before.

I think the reason X games has gotten so popular is the excitement. Most people who watch X games play those sports and never had a celebrity to talk about or a competition. The sports seem more fun to me than football they call them extreme sports for a reason. Personally I would rather snowboard than play football and I think that’s the mentality behind watching them. Maybe people are just getting tired of professional sports want to change. Trying something new and the more and more young people are skating and watching the X games. Even so some people may just want something to watch during the off season.

Businesses are interested in having X games endorse their products because if they sell skateboards they never have had anyone to endorse their products before. They are also interested in the rising popularity.

X games salaries have jumped due to increased popularity and the more money companies are making the more athletes are getting sponsorships and ESPN has more viewers so they may also be raising their base salaries.

X games was started in 1993 with the first games in 1995 ESPN wanted to bring together international athletes in action sports.

In conclusion between X games starting and the increased popularity over the years I think the popularity will continue to rise and even more money will flow through this event. Along with more athletes becoming a part of the system.
