This whole article is about the rising cost to go to after school curricular activities, and the hardships along with it. The cost for sports, band, fieldtrips, and other after school activities is increasing rapidly. In a desperate attempt to bring in funds no longer supplied by the county city or state. High school students should pay money to engage in after school activities but these prices are insane. It helps the school and allows them more leeway to get to the necessary purchases, but the dwindling economy still affects us. We are slammed with the purchases of not so essential products and less essential but still needed and expensive items such as books, and band instruments, or here the rental of an ROTC uniform. On the other hand should definitely pay the fees the school needs help despite the price as long as it won’t force you to go bankrupt or starve then consider helping the school. Plus despite the price after school activities and sports are a fun and involving things to do. The exclusion of an outside activity over price will just land them bored coach potatoes. The alternatives to this are doing nothing or seeking the schools mercy upon your situation. It is good to help in time of need so ask for it and give at the same interval. Get the school to lower your cost and finding ways to pay it back. Getting free or reduced lunch, calling it good, and doing nothing won’t fix anything. Everyone needs to work together. And some problems like books can be solved through online textbook usage the internet doesn’t use a paper page to be marked by graffiti and torn up. Switching to digital sounds more pricy but overhead projectors are already in every classroom at most schools using online textbooks will eliminate needs to buy expensive and breakable textbooks. My opinion is pay if you can and seek help if you can’t, the price is insane but sometimes cuts to unnecessary aspects such as iPod music, just watch YouTube on it and find alternatives. The tough times are tough you must find ways around these things to incorporate cheaper alternatives.
